Kari has over 26 years experience investigating various federal and state crimes with the U.S. Small Business Administration, Office of Inspector General and U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Inspector General.
She conducted complex fraud investigations involving bank loans, disaster loans, contract fraud, real estate fraud, false statements, false claims, bankruptcies and money laundering.
Kari is a Certified Fraud Examiner, certified by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), and is a Director at Large and former President and Vice President of the ACFE's Pacific Northwest Chapter. For more information about our chapter, please visit www.pnwacfe.org.
Kari is a Private Investigator in Washington, former Treasurer and current member of the Pacific Northwest Association of Investigators, and a member of the Washington Legal Investigators.
After retirement from the Federal government in 2018, Kari formed her own firm, Overson Investigative Group LLC. As a PI and CFE, Kari has experience working criminal investigations, internal investigations, divorce cases involving spouses who hide assets and cases involving financial exploitation of vulnerable adults.
She is a facilitator for the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission in their Sexual Assault Interviewing Victim Centered Trauma Informed course.
Kari’s focus is on fraud investigations, most notably involving loan and bank fraud, bankruptcy fraud, money laundering, contracting fraud, as well as tracing assets in all investigations.
She is passionate about investigating financial abuse of the elderly by caregivers or family members.
